Site Access for Hydroelectric Dam
Supporting Dam Safety Engineers in Conestoga, PA
Matrax, Inc. was contacted by dam safety engineers to provide a 50’ foot temporary bridge over a section of asphalt roadway to the concrete deck of a hydroelectric dam that had undergone settlement and was deemed unsuitable for heavy vehicular traffic.
The primary purpose of this 50’ foot temporary bridge is to allow a 54 ton crane safe access to the dam over the next several months to retrieve transformers and other equipment scheduled for repair. The 50’ foot long “hinge” bridge was delivered and installed in approximately one hour.
Transition ramps were later placed on each end of the bridge by a local contractor to provide a smooth transition up on and down from the bridge for the crane.
