Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs is Transformed into an Ice Rink with Matrax HD
In preparation for the construction on an outdoor hockey rink on the field of Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs, Matrax partner Sunbelt Rentals installed 91,000 square feet for Matrax HD heavy duty flooring panels. Over a two-day period, the installation crew worked in extremely cold temperatures, plowing snow off the field the entire time. The panels were installed in a picture-frame configuration, leaving an area open in the middle for a raised platform for the ice surface. Despite the bitter cold and the snow, the Sunbelt project management team did an amazing job aligning the flooring to ensure a perfect fit with the temporary ice rink.
After the installation of the flooring, the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Mobile Refrigeration Unit arrived at the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium to begin construction for the outdoor hockey rink for the 2020 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series game. See more on the project here.
