Station Road in Amherst, MA Gets a Custom-Built Temporary Bridge

Station Road in the town of Amherst, MA needed a temporary bridge to provide residents access to their homes after state officials closed the existing bridge, built in the 1950’s, because it was unsafe.

Working with the town, Matrax’s bridge engineers provided extensive engineer-stamped designs and custom fabrication, altering the bridge guardrails for conformance with Department of Transportation permanent bridge specs. Matrax designed a 30’ long, 12.5″ wide hinged bridge with customized high guardrails and a 45-ton load rating to meet DOT approval. Matrax’s design minimized cost while ensuring safety and proper load bearing.

Once the design was approved, Matrax turned custom fabrication around within the week and delivered next week.
