Matrax Silt Sock – The Most Efficient Alternative to Silt Fence

Matrax Silt Sock is an efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to silt fence. Especially effective in wetlands and waterways, Matrax Silt Sock helps contain sediment and control water flow on any job site, even in extreme conditions.  Unlike silt fence, silt sock does not require trenching, so it can be installed on job sites with sensitive vegetation, frozen ground, paved areas, or vulnerable underground utilities and tree roots.

Matrax Silt Sock Applications: Matrax silt Sock

  • Sediment Traps: Build a temporary dry pond detention system
  • Stormwater Runoff and redirect: Intercept runoff before it enters sensitive areas
  • Perimeter Control: Delimit areas and create barriers to retain sediments
  • Slope Interruption and Protection: Reduce slope length and velocity of stormwater runoff
  • Concrete Washout: Contain discharges form pumped stormwater or concrete wash water
  • Check Dams:  Reduce the velocity of runoff flows

The Advantages of Matrax Silt Sock Versus Silt Fence:

Effective.

By allowing water to filter through organic compost contained within a mesh tube, silt sock controls the rate of water flow while trapping sediment. Silt sock has full contact with the ground, preventing water from flowing underneath.

Easy to install – lay it down and stake it in place.

Matrax Silt Sock is flexible and contours to the ground. Unlike silt fence, silt sock does not require trenching and can be installed on frozen or uneven ground. Matrax Silt Sock is also an excellent option for use in environmentally sensitive areas or areas with underground oil, gas or sewer lines that cannot be trenched.

Easy to remove.

At the end of the job, the mesh sock can be cut open and it’s biodegradable filler can be spread over the job site. To remove silt fence, used material must to be hauled away, adding time and cost to your project.

Prevents flooding of the job site.

Acting as a filtration system, silt sock allows water to flow through the organic media contained within the mesh tube. Sediment is trapped while controlling the rate of water flow, which prevents pooling. Silt fence is designed to keep water in, which can result in a flooded job site.

Environmentally friendly.

Made of recycled, locally sourced material, Matrax Silt Sock uses inert filler that is free of weeds, seeds and contaminants. At the end of the job, the composted material can be spread into existing soil, increasing organic matter, improving soil quality and reducing waste.

Aesthetically pleasing.

Silt sock has a low profile, which helps keep the appeal of the property while work is being completed.

Low maintenance and reusable.

Stakes keep socks in place so they are not subject to damage from heavy winds and weather. With proper handling, smaller profiles can be easily moved from one job site to another.
